"The Antarctic," the last pristine land on the earth , is often described as the edge of the world. It is renowned for its majestic scenery, including famous icebergs, floating ice, and penguins. Its pure and untouched beauty is truly captivating. From April 23, 2019, to September 1, the Museum showcased the exquisite photography of Hiroshi Ikeda, who ventured to Antarctica. His photography displayed the beautiful and captivating aspects of Antarctica while narrating the life stories of its inhabitants, the penguins. It also called upon humanity to protect our precious earth environment. In collaboration with Hiroshi Ikeda, the Museum aimed to introduce the audience to the natural environment and animal ecology of Antarctica, strengthen environmental education. Dr. Okitsugu Watanabe, a scientist specializing in Antarctica, contributed written introductions to these works, allowing the audience to appreciate the beauty of Antarctica while gaining more scientific knowledge.
