Traffic infomation

By Car

From National Freeway 1, get off at the Taichung Interchange (Exit #178 Taichung) and head toward Taichung. Follow Taiwan Boulevard to reach the museum.
From National Highway 3, get off at the Longjing Interchange (Exit #182 Longjing) toward Taichung. Follow Taiwan Boulevard to reach the museum.

By Taiwan High Speed Rail / Taiwan Railway

Take the high speed rail and get off at the Taichung High Speed Rail Station. Then, head to platform 13 at exit 6 to take Bus No. 159. Get off at the Botanical Garden (Xitun Road) stop.
Take the high speed rail and get off at the Taichung High Speed Rail Station. Then, take the Taichung MRT Green Line to the City Hall station. Walk to the City Hall (bus lane) bus stop on Taiwan Boulevard and take a bus toward downtown. Get off at the National Museum of Natural Science (bus lane) stop.
Take a Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) train to the Taichung Train Station and transfer to a city bus. (For route number, please refer to the following bus route information.) Get off at the National Museum of Natural Science (bus lane) bus stop.

Parking Lots

As shown on the map, there are 3 parking lots, on Boguan Road, at the Botanical Garden, and on Xitun Road. There are also other parking lots near the museum.
There are elevators in the Botanical Garden and Xitun Road parking lots for use by visitors with strollers or limited mobility.
The Boguan Road parking lot is a single-level parking lot.
There is a bus drivers’ lounge next to the Botanical Garden parking lot.

Parking Lot Fee Notice

With ticket stub or Dinosaur Card: NT$30/hour for small vehicles, NT$60/hour for large vehicles. Daily maximum is NT$180 for both.

Non-museum visitors: NT$40/hour for small vehicles on weekdays, NT$50/hour on weekends (including school winter and summer breaks); NT$60/hour for large vehicles.

Overnight (19:00-08:00)

NT$30/hour for small vehicles, maximum NT$50. NT$60/hour for large vehicles, maximum NT$200.

Discounts for Taichung residents

Disabled person parking permit (yellow permit, with license plate number) holders can park for 4 hours free of charge. Parking fee will be charged from the 5th hour, which will be calculated as the 1st hour.

Disabled person parking permit (blue, with photo, name, and license plate number) holders are entitled to free parking with no time limit.

Discounts for residents of other cities/counties
