拍攝主題為薄翅蟬和黑翅蟬羽化的瞬間。傍晚時，蟄伏地下數年的薄翅蟬及黑翅蟬終齡若蟲，鑽出地面爬上枯枝進行羽化，薄翅蟬綠色的蟲體與透明的翼翅如羽衣般美麗，黑翅蟬則是體色鮮紅，外型艷麗。蟬於羽化後，待翅膀變硬，顏色變深，便開始起飛，接下來就會進行交尾、產卵。部分成蟲則成為其他物種的食物，如第三張照片所示，蟬成為鳥類育雛的食物了。

These images depict emerging Chremistica ochracea and Huechys sanguinea cicadas. In the evening, final instar nymphs of these two species climb up withered branches from underground, where they have spent years, to molt. The green body and transparent wings of the former are beautiful, while the bright red body of the latter is dazzling. Once cicadas emerge, they wait for their wings to harden and darken before taking off to search for a mate and lay eggs. Some adults become food for other species, as in the third image a cicada is shown being fed to nestlings.
