Introduction

In general, man-made waste must be removed to keep the oceans clean. However, there are a few exceptions. A shipwreck reef can become a paradise for marine life. The naval Ju-Yong ship, placed in the waters off Yilan in 2002, is such an example. Moreover, the water outlet of the Fourth Nuclear Power Plant, which has never been in operation, has become an artificial reef. Due to its relatively closed structure, the interior is not suited to fish. However, around it, amazing coral colonies have formed. Another example is drifting marine debris. Abandoned oyster sheds are like Howl’s moving castles, becoming habitats for numerous organisms, that are visible and invisible to the naked eye, and resembling marine life residential complexes. If we rashly remove them, will this be good or bad for marine life?
