胎䲁科的魚具有卓越的變色能力，藉由操縱體表的色素細胞，牠們能融入背景，不論是掠食者或獵物，都不容易發現牠們的蹤影。黃身跳磯䲁是胎䲁科的成員之一，棲息於東北角潮間帶，經常隱身於五顏六色的海藻當中，魚體顏色從翠綠、淺綠、淡黃到深紅色都有紀錄。2021年9月在東北角九孔池，第一次邂逅了黃身跳磯䲁後，便瘋狂地愛上這種眼睛閃耀著彩虹的魚。

Fish of the family Clinidae can change color. By manipulating the chromatophores on the body surface, they blend into the background, making it difficult noticed by predators or prey. The weedfish (Springeratus xanthosoma) is a member of the family Clinidae and inhabits the intertidal zone of northeastern Taiwan. It is often concealed amid colorful seaweed, and has been recorded ranging in color from emerald green to light green, light yellow, and deep red. In September 2021, I encountered a weedfish at an abalone culture pond in the Northeastern Coast for the first time, and was stuck on this fish with sparkling rainbow eyes.
