科學家研究發現，當月相、潮汐和時間點都恰到好處時，笛鯛們就會準備交配。滿月的時候，白斑笛鯛白天便開始聚集，並在日出時移動到強流處。母魚和公魚會衝到靠近水面處，同時釋出精卵進行外部受精。強大的海流可以確保受精卵被海流沖走，而不會被等在附近的掠食者—黑色的隆背笛鯛吃光。

Based on scientific research, snappers mate when the lunar phase, tide, and timing are just right. During a full moon, two-spot red snappers gather during the day, moving into an area of strong currents at sunrise. Both males and females rush to just below the surface, while releasing eggs and sperm for external fertilization. The strong currents ensure that fertilized eggs are carried away and not eaten by predators waiting nearby, such as the black humpback snappers.
