夜幕降臨，月亮尚未升起，我換上潛水衣，揹著氣瓶，拎起水下相機，緩緩下潛至海平面之下。漆黑的海中，只看得見潛水燈所照之處，看似寂靜無波，其實熱鬧非凡。許多肉眼難見的浮游生物，被燈光吸引聚集，參雜於其中的水母把人螫得刺痛。突然，海水變得混濁，我將雙眼的焦距，重新對焦在眼前的小生物上。一顆顆如芝麻般大小、粉紅色的精卵束漂散在海中，一年一度的珊瑚同步產卵的盛事，終於來臨。

As night fell and before the moon had risen, I put on my wetsuit and scuba, picked up my underwater camera, and slowly dove into the sea. In the dark waters, only places illuminated by my dive light could be seen. Although seemingly tranquil, it was actually very lively. Planktons, difficult to observe with naked eyes, were in abundance, attracted to the light. There were also jellyfish, the stings of which are painful to humans. Suddenly, the water became turbid. I focused on the small organism before me, as it released pink gametes, as small as sesame seeds, one after the other, into the sea. The once-a-year coral spawning event was finally here.
